01 Who we are

Nihongo Bites ("we," "us," "our") publishes short, bite-sized Japanese vocabulary lessons for Filipino workers, delivered through social media videos and related tools. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

02 Information we collect

We keep data collection to what's actually needed to run the page, channel, and any tools connected to them:

• Public engagement data — likes, comments, shares, follower counts, and video view metrics provided by the platforms we publish to (Facebook, YouTube, TikTok).
• Contact information you give us directly — if you message us, email us, or comment asking a question, we see what you've sent so we can reply.
• Platform account data (via OAuth) — when we connect our own publishing tools to our Facebook Page, YouTube channel, or TikTok account, the platform shares limited account and permission data with our scheduling tool so it can post on our behalf. This is our own account access, not a general collection of visitor data.
• Basic site analytics — if nihongobites.com uses analytics, it may log anonymous, aggregate information such as page visits and general location (country/city level), not your identity.

We do not collect passwords, payment details, or government ID numbers, and we do not sell personal data.

03 How we use information

• To publish and schedule vocabulary content across our social channels
• To respond to questions, comments, and messages
• To understand which lessons are helpful, using aggregate (non-identifying) engagement data
• To keep our channels secure and prevent misuse of our publishing tools

04 Google API Services & YouTube data

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

• We use YouTube API access solely to upload and manage videos on our own Nihongo Bites channel — we do not access other users' YouTube data.
• We do not use YouTube data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or transfer this data to third parties except as needed to provide the publishing service itself (our scheduling tool, Postiz, acting on our behalf).
• We do not use YouTube data for any purpose other than operating and improving the Nihongo Bites channel.

05 Third-party services we use

We rely on a small set of trusted services to run our content pipeline. Each has its own privacy policy governing data they process:

• Meta (Facebook) — for publishing to our Facebook Page
• Google (YouTube) — for publishing to our YouTube channel
• TikTok — for publishing to our TikTok account
• Postiz (self-hosted scheduling tool) — used only by us, to queue and publish our own content

06 Data retention

We retain platform account access only for as long as needed to operate our channels, and we retain messages or comments only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to them or as required by the platform hosting them. You may revoke our access to your account at any time through that platform's own settings (this does not apply to visitors — only to accounts that have explicitly connected to our tools).

07 Children's privacy

Nihongo Bites content is intended for working adults learning Japanese for employment purposes. Our channels are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

08 Your choices

• You can unfollow, unfriend, or block our Page or channel at any time through the platform you're using.
• You can revoke any OAuth permissions granted to our tools via your own Google, Facebook, or TikTok account settings.
• You can contact us to ask what information we hold about you or to request its deletion, where applicable.

09 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our tools or publishing channels change. The "Effective date" above will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
